At my school we have started intervention and acceleration.
We are finding that working with the kids on their level with kids at their skill level is a HUGE concept. I've been blessed to get to work with a LARGE group of students 3 days a week. This group is usually the ACCELERATED kids (the ones who have mastered a concept and need a harder concept.) We have worked on time, money, and briefly addition/subtraction. To be honest, I was skeptical about this idea at first ... but now, I would put money on it. Right now we are in the middle of working on money. Now, don't be fooled. This group of kids can identify, change/exchange various amounts, find the greatest/least amounts of coins to make a certain value, and compare amounts of money! I'm VERY proud of my group. Oh, and did I mention there are 46 of them? Yep. To be honest, the large group is so much fun!!!
So, when you think you can't handle whatever is going on, just remember... it could be bigger! However, I do agree with the old saying, "bigger is better."
