DIR

Thank you Beth Newingham! She has an AMAZING method to reading. Each kid has a reader's notebook for them to do their reading response in and complete small group activities. The kids are given their reading plan for the day at small group. She then has response pages to be used for comprehension or other reading skills during their DIR time (Daily Individual Reading.)

I tweaked this idea and added 2 more sections to their notebooks - Writing and Workstation work :)

They are to complete a reading response to ONE book they read every week. This helps with assessing understanding and comprehension of books. I also have "hand-outs" at our small group reading for them to write words they don't know, generate questions, or complete a thinking map!

I love love love my reading notebooks!!! Highly recommended.

She has ALL kinds of videos as well!
